Mary Jo Portch
Mary Jo Portch is a native of the Washington DC. area.
As the child of an artist she began painting and drawing at a very early age. As a teenager she won prizes and acclaim for her artistic efforts. She studied art at Mary Washington College and later she took courses at Bowie State College and the Northern Virginia Community College.
Mary Jo has exhibited and won prizes in the Washington area and her works are included in many collections around the country. As an artist, working in different mediums gives variety to her work. She uses oils most frequently but other mediums appeal to her as well. She uses pastels, ink, charcoal, and lately watercolors. Mary Jo finds many different subjects inspiring for her art. She likes to paint flowers from her garden, animals,landscapes,and seascapes.
Mary Jo belongs to the Fairfax Art League and exhibits her paintings at their galleries and shows. She lives in Springfield VA. and has her studio in her home.
